SUNFLOWER KERNEL

SUNFLOWER KERNEL

Kernel is the sunflower seed with hull removed. Seed meat and hull are separated through a mechanical process by which a centrifugal force makes the whole seed impact against the cylinder wall. This impact causes the hull to crack and the seed meat to move out. The process is completed by separating seed meat from hull and from seeds that were not hulled.

Kernels can be used as snack or as an ingredient (raw or toasted) for bakery products and other foodstuffs (cakes, salads, cookies, cereal bars, graham crackers, dressings, etc.).
